And do you know who is buried there? Famous french songstress-Edith Piaf, famous french playwright-Molière, Famous Actress- Sarah Bernhardt, Famous author who lived in Paris for a time-Oscar Wilde, and most notably- the famous musician- Jim Morrison (grave pictured).

This cemetery was once landed owned by the priest-Père Lachaise and was bought by Napoleon to become a cemetery. Its crowded, kind of creepy, and it was REALLY hard to find some of these graves. If you click on this photo, it should take you to my set of photos from this place. You can zoom in on the map one to see exactly who is buried there. Its on a hill in the 20th arrd., and it was old and windy and creepy; but it was way cool to see these graves! Kind of morbid, i know, but cool none the less!  We had a fund time wandering around looking at the variety of graves.

The coolest part for me was seeing the gave of Edith Piaf. If you have not seen the movie “La Vie en Rose” yet (that actress won the oscar for best actress this past year!!) you need to! Its amazing! It tells the life story of one of France’s most famous chanteuses. She led a hard life and died earlier because of it. I would defintely put this on your netflix list!
